Washington (Kubha News) – Negotiations for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza took place in Cairo on Monday involving representatives from Hamas, Israel, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

Israeli and Hamas sources have told the media that there has been no significant progress on a ceasefire agreement in Gaza during these negotiations, as the two sides did not reach an agreement on their respective ceasefire conditions.

An Israeli delegation member in Cairo said that there is hope for such an agreement and that negotiations will continue in Egypt to achieve it, but did not mention the specific date for next phase of the talks.

These talks come as a result of pressure from the United States on Israel to end the war. For this purpose, William Burns, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), is in Cairo.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has announced preparations for an attack on the city of Rafah.

Although the United States has warned against the consequences of an Israeli attack on Rafah, Netanyahu said that even if the United States does not support his plan, he will attack Rafah.

Rafah is a shelter for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have taken refuge there following Israel’s attacks on Gaza.

The United Nations has warned that if Israel attacks Rafah, thousands of civilians, mostly women and children, will be killed.
