Washington (Kubha News) – The Pakistan Foreign Ministry announced that discussions on joint efforts against terrorism took place on Friday, involving the Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations and the Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department in Washington.

The delegations from both sides in Washington discussed cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in addressing security challenges in the region, especially the threats posed by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) and ISIS.

The Pakistan Foreign Ministry’s statement mentioned that Washington and Islamabad agreed to increase coordination between them in these two areas. Still, it did not address the ISIS threats in Afghanistan specifically.

This comes at a time when the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry recently alleged that three regional countries play a role in facilitating and allowing ISIS fighters to enter Afghanistan.

The Taliban Defense Ministry spokesperson also recently claimed that ISIS fighters are consolidating in Pakistan, and most ISIS attacks are coordinated against them in Pakistan as well.

In two separate incidents, a media outlet close to the Taliban’s intelligence agency released videos of captured ISIS Khorasan branch fighters.

In one case, three Tajik citizens claiming to be ISIS fighters stated they were brought from Turkey to Afghanistan and intended to go to Pakistan for military training but were captured by the Taliban.

In another case, two Pakistani citizens confessed that they came to Afghanistan after receiving military training to carry out terrorist activities, and they were apprehended by the Taliban.

However, Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for the Pakistan Foreign Ministry, refuted these claims in a press conference on Friday.
