Kabul (Kubha News)— Kazakhstan has removed the Taliban from its list of terrorist organizations, a move aimed at bolstering economic engagement with Afghanistan, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev announced.
Toqayev made the announcement during a meeting with parliamentary leaders from member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
“This step is essential to enhance our economic interactions with Afghanistan,” he said, according to Kazakhstan’s state news agency.
The president highlighted that one of the strategic priorities is fostering Afghanistan’s active involvement in regional cooperation.
This development comes amid remarks from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who recently indicated that Russia is also considering delisting the Taliban from its blacklist.
Experts suggest Kazakhstan’s decision could pave the way for Moscow to follow suit.
