Berlin (Kubha News)-The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has launched the Empower Future Female Afghan Leaders (EFFAL) scholarship programme in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This initiative aims to provide displaced Afghan students, particularly women, with access to academic education.
With approximately seven million euros in funding, the EFFAL programme plans to finance up to 5,000 scholarships between 2023 and 2027. The programme targets Afghan bachelor’s and master’s students living in neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Bangladesh since the Taliban’s rise to power. It also extends to individuals residing in Afghanistan who have completed their school education and seek to prepare for higher education through English language courses or other training programmes.
The primary focus of the programme is on Afghan women who might otherwise lack the opportunity to pursue or continue their studies.
