Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, speaking at the opening of Iran’s consulate in Damascus in a joint press conference with the Syrian Foreign Minister, emphasized that Israel could not have attacked their consulate in Damascus “without the green light from the United States.”
Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Tehran would respond to Israel’s attack on their consulate in Damascus but did not clarify the timing or nature of this response.
In the airstrike targeting Iran’s consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria last week, 13 people were killed, including eight high-ranking military personnel from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Iran attributes this attack to Israel, but Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for it so far.
The U.S. National Security Council has stated that it was not aware of the airstrike on Iran’s consulate.
