Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, agreed during a meeting in the Uzbek city of Khiva on multiple trade and investment agreements between the two countries.
They also agreed to jointly invest in the Trans-Afghan railway line project involving Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
The Trans-Afghan railway project, which had initial agreements between Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan in 2017, the formal agreement signed last year in Islamabad among representatives of the three countries.
The Trans-Afghan railway line, starting from the city of Termez in Uzbekistan, spans 573 kilometers, passing through Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul, and connecting with Peshawar.
The estimated total cost of the project is around $4.5 billion.
