Washington (Kubha News) – Iran launched extensive missile and suicide drone attacks against Israel in the early hours of Sunday morning local time.
Daniel Hagari, an Israeli military spokesperson, confirmed that Iran fired more than two hundred suicide drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles towards Israel.
He claimed that a significant number of these missiles and drones were intercepted outside Israeli airspace before reaching Israel. However, he confirmed that a few of these missiles hit Israel, causing damage to a military base in southern Israel.
Targets of Iran’s Attacks:
Iranian semi-official media outlet Tasnim, quoting Iranian military sources, reported that the primary target of Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Israel is military centers.
The Israeli military confirmed that Iranian missiles hit a military base in the Negev Desert, a military base that, according to Iranian newspaper Tasnim, Israel has used to launch rocket attacks on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, Syria two weeks ago.
Global Reactions:
The National Security Council team at the White House held a meeting shortly after Iran missile and drone attacks on Israel, led by President Joe Biden.
The U.S. President tweeted that the latest developments regarding Iran’s attack on Israel were discussed in this meeting. Biden stated that the United States remains committed to Israel’s security and to countering threats from Iran and its proxy groups firmly.
Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, strongly condemned Iran’s attack on Israel and said in a statement that the world cannot tolerate the beginning of another war and called on parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint.
Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, termed the Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israel as unjustifiable and condemned them.
Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Foreign Minister, wrote in a series of tweets on her X page that Berlin condemns Iran’s attack on Israel, and according to her, her country stands alongside Israel in such situations.
