Kabul (Kubha News) – A private Radio journalist in Ghazni, who preferred not to be named due to security concerns, told Kubha News that Taliban intelligence DGI detained RFE/RL (Radio Azadi) reporter Habiburahman Taseer ten days ago for his collaboration with Radio Azadi and confiscated his work equipment, including his phone and computer.
The source mentioned that Mr. Taseer had stopped working with Radio Azadi several months ago due to Taliban pressures, but recently Taliban intelligence informed the local journalists that they had proven his continued collaboration with Radio Azadi by searching his mobile phone and laptop.
Taliban intelligence informed journalists in Ghazni that Mr. Taseer has been transferred to prison and his case will be referred to court.
In the series of restrictive actions against media and freedom of expression, the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture halted the broadcasts of Noor TV and Bria TV yesterday on charges of broadcasting against national interests and referred their cases to court.
The Taliban’s actions have raised concerns among media analysts, who fear that the targeting of politically aligned channels could signal a broader crackdown on freedom of the press in Afghanistan.
