Islamabad (Kubha News) – A source in the Pakistani military has informed Pakistani media outlets that the joint committee meeting between Taliban military commanders and General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) of the Taliban government and Pakistani military and intelligence has been postponed due to objections raised by Taliban authorities.
The source mentioned that the Taliban government informed them that two days ago, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) targeted a location in the Wermami district of Paktika province, and unless Pakistan clarifies this matter, the meeting will not take place.
On Friday, residents of the Wermami district in Paktika province reported an airstrike on a residential house, but three days after the incident, the Taliban government has not confirmed the attack yet.
The source in the Pakistani military told Pakistani media that they have explained to the Taliban that the attack did not originate from them.
However, the Taliban government responded that the attack was either conducted by the Pakistani military or by a third country using Pakistan’s airspace, and in both cases, Islamabad must be held accountable.
The joint military and intelligence committee between the Taliban government and Pakistan was established last year, and its meetings, held every three months along the Durand Line, involve commanders from the Pakistani military, intelligence officials, as well as military and intelligence officials from the Taliban government.
