Turkey revokes visa exemption for citizens of Tajikistan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, through an order, has revoked visa exemption for Tajik citizens entering Turkey with regular passports.

Turkey had previously granted visa-free entry for Tajik citizens in 2023, allowing them to stay in the country without a visa for up to 90 days.

This decision comes in the wake of a recent incident where a Tajik citizen was detained on charges of attacking a church in Istanbul.

Turkish forces have recently announced the arrest of dozens of foreign nationals on charges of having ties with ISIS.

Russian security forces also reported the arrest of another Tajik citizen on Friday on charges of collaborating with the perpetrators of the attack on concert in Moscow two weeks ago, bringing the total number of detained Tajik citizens in Russia to ten.
