Kabul (Kubha News)- Bakhtiar Saidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, announced the country’s readiness to host the Taliban ambassador in Tashkent soon. In a meeting with Mullah Ghani Baradar, the economic deputy of the Taliban, Saidov emphasized the importance of Afghanistan’s position on the Amu River for Uzbekistan. He expressed Uzbekistan’s willingness to collaborate with Kabul on the technical aspects of the Qush Tepa canal and the modernization of irrigation systems.
Saidov highlighted Uzbekistan’s readiness to undertake projects in Afghan transit, electricity, and coal-fired power generation to bolster regional trade and connectivity. During the meeting, Baradar, representing the Taliban, underscored their government’s economy-focused foreign policy, emphasizing regional connectivity as a key priority.
The discussions, held at the Chaharchinar Palace, involved a high-level delegation led by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiar Saidov.
According to the office of economic deputy of Taliban, “Baradar emphasized the shared interests between the two nations across various sectors and expressed optimism about enhancing cooperation. Among the topics discussed were increasing transit, bolstering trade relations, expanding rail networks, attracting investments, and resolving transportation and customs issues”.
Regarding the Qush Tepa canal, Baradar assured that it wouldn’t pose concerns for neighboring countries.
The Taliban disclosed that the Uzbek delegation comprised several members of the cabinet and representatives from the private sector, totaling 30 individuals.
