The U.S. House of Representatives approved a $61 billion aid package to Kyiv on Friday, sending the resolution to the Senate for confirmation.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, welcomed Congress’ decision, saying that “This aid will strengthen Ukraine and send the Kremlin a powerful signal that it will not be the second Afghanistan.”
The U.S. aid package to Ukraine had been stalled due to disagreements between the Republican and Democratic parties in the United States congress.
The Ukrainian President had warned last week that without aid, Ukraine would not be able to withstand Russian attacks.
